If your switchboard is mounted on an old fibrous backing board, we treat it with care and will tell you if it should be assessed before work starts.

In the apartment blocks of Hurstville, Kogarah and Rockdale, older unit boards often have fuses or a single safety switch. We upgrade these in the unit and coordinate with the strata manager if meter-room access is needed.

Cost

The price depends on your number of circuits, the state of the existing wiring, meter panel requirements and access. We'll inspect and give you a written quote before any work begins.

Work on the meter, service mains or the supply cable into the property is Level 2 work, which we do not do. If your upgrade needs it, we refer that part to an accredited provider. See Level 2 electrical work.

How long will the power be off?

Usually a few hours on the day of the upgrade. We'll give you the expected window in advance.

Can you upgrade the switchboard in my Hurstville unit?

Yes. If the board is inside your unit it's usually straightforward. If it's in a shared meter room, we'll arrange access with building management.

Should I rewire at the same time?

Not always. We test the wiring when we change the board and will tell you honestly whether any circuits need replacing.
